The Moon and Your Karma/Past Lives

Where your moon is placed is important in determining what past life patterns you bring forth in this lifetime. Your moon is determined by the time of your birth as the moon moves in degrees, at two degrees per hour, at the most.

We bring forth in our astrological charts three main factors that make up our personality in this soul life, and those are the Sun, Moon and Ascendant, however the past lives can be determined not only by the Sun and Moon placements, but by the Moons Nodes. Habits, patterns and issues from past lives are prevalent depending on what sign the moon is in and its placement in the chart.

A brief description of the moons patterns are as follows as they apply to each of the signs:

Moon in Aries - This individual will be highly emotional and somewhat volatile in nature, but may also suppress this according to how he/she was raised. The mother of this individual often is a go-getter and is determined to breed independence into the individual. Learning to be independent is very difficult for this individual because there have been past lives of abandonment of the mother and oftentimes warrior behavior that caused the person to totally abandon family in favor of battle and carrying on the sword. This lifetime may be fraught with headaches (if anger is repressed) and endocrine issues involving adrenalin and insulin problems.

Moon in Taurus - The moon functions best in the sign of Taurus, however the importance in reaching toward the past is not to collect too many possessions and 'stuff' which is not relevant to your success in this lifetime. There has been a tendency to be too possessive and jealous of relationships in the past lives and now, you are able to relate very easily but some of those old past life relationships seem to be occurring more and more, so they have a tendency to be jealous of you and quite possessive. This might be annoying, but it is how you set it up to deal with your karma. You are very earthy (learned it from your mom) and work well with the earth and all things that come 'from' the earth, as well as being very creative in aesthetics. The body might rebel in the area of the throat and laryngitis when not living this out. Smoking should be avoided at all costs.

Moon in Gemini --- Sometimes the moon is uncomfortable in this sign and there is a definite indicator of a mood disorder or highly charged nervous system that makes the individual bounce around and not focus on what needs to happen. The mother of this individual will also tend to over talk a situation and the individual has been raised with too much information, therefore being distracted from the important issues. Past lives of communication and the importance one placed on it, to the distancing of intimate relationships is relevant here. The telephone is the constant companion of this individual or the constant avoidance. Endless chatter may disallow the opportunity to discuss anything truly meaningful, so the struggle to be sincere is always present. I advise people with this placement to assess a situation silently and wait to respond, because anything other than that, will cause 'reaction' and not 'response ability'.

Moon in Cancer - The ever present need for home and family is adopted by this individual who is also raised by a mother who was possibly a past life family member, one who instinctually understood the needs of this individual and placed great importance on fulfilling those needs. The individual did not place home and hearth on his/her greatest needs list in past lives and will find difficulty in maintaining and sustaining this in this life….even if the individual constantly finds him/herself in a situation that he/she is building a new homelife. Caring for family is of utmost importance and sometimes there is karmic separation in this as the individual may be heart broken and distressed over a divorced family or children who no longer are close to him/her. Stomach problems can abound in this individual, especially when he/she is angry and not able to express it.

Moon in Leo --- This life may be in constant need of attention due to the fact that you were raised by a very dramatic or overly expressive mother who stole the show from everyone and demanded that she have precedence. This life will be a highly emotional one for you and it might seem as an ongoing soap opera at the best. Watch for soul mates to come to you and want to have intimate relationships, but they don't lead to marriage, nor should they. You were a 'love em and leave em type in the last life so this one will be fraught with unrequited love affairs. You could satisfy some of these urges for drama, by being involved in local drama productions, putting yourself in the local limelight. This will be an exciting and never boring lifetime for you, so enjoy while you have the chance.

Moon in Virgo --- This lifetime will make you work hard, almost becoming a workaholic in the process. You are focused on health and work routine, but mainly a process oriented type. There are often karmic illnesses from past lives in this moon sign because of the lapse in those lifetimes of unhealthy life habits. There is an embedded fear of illness in this life, so the routine of healthy eating and exercising habits are very important. One should take special care of the digestive system and bowel habits. There are many lifetimes of either being a priest or in the convent and therefore there will be times that you will be abstaining from any sexual contact with another, as a carryover from that past life. This is not to say that you are not a highly sexual individual, however you are also highly private and self-contained so no one ever sees this side of you. Writing and journaling might be a way of exercising out of the habitual self-criticism that exists in this moon sign.

Moon in Libra --- This is a moon sign that wants balance and peace at all costs, usually having patterns in past lives of being too independent and not able to relate to others in a way that is balanced, so the balance beam in this lifetime is on the side of the partner. One learns in the early part of this life that there are no ideal relationships and the need to always have a partner is finally, in later life, seen for what it is. This native does not always have to be a reflection of the partner and the mate. One must always look well groomed and be presentable in a way that is acceptable to everyone around him/her. This native has been very capable of triangulating as it has been important, from birth, to pleasing both parents and having their acknowledgement. Oftentimes decision making has been wavering to say the least as the ability to discern opposites and come to some balance in that regard is missing. As one grows older though, decisions become more easily made and more peace of mind results with this decisive mind.

Moon in Scorpio --- This moon lives by stringent standard and has an intense knowing that goes deeply into unconscious patterns. The native with this moon often sees beyond the obvious into the deepest darkest nature of mankind and has an ability to go into a more deeply embedded understanding of human nature. One cannot pull the wool over the eyes of a moon in Scorpio or there will be consequences to pay. Knowing how this native feels is almost impossible, because the feeling nature is so hidden from the common man. There is deep karma of a dark nature in this native and he/she works on this day and night, but without any acknowledgement from either self or others. Most of this karma is worked out in dreams and in a sort of hypnotic work on self. The habits of this native may result in the professions of psychiatry, surgery, FBI agents, secret societies, etc… This is no moon to play around with by any means.

Moon in Sagittarius -- This moon is highly inspirational and has come to a lifetime where studying the spiritual and higher educational connections becomes a 'must'. There is usually a marked independence and outspokenness in this person that is somewhat uncomfortable to be around, therefore this native is quite difficult if one wants to be in an intimate relationship. This is a 'truth telling', blunt, often tactless individual who will be the embodiment of 'the sword of truth'. The native with this moon believes that he/she has a divine rightness that helps to discern rights from wrongs. The individual has been encouraged always to seek higher education and stick to values that go beyond the norm, therefore placing the individual in a professorial situation that demands success.

Moon in Capricorn - This is a hard sign in which to have a moon as the mothering nature or nurturing nature of the individual has been hard won. One is usually born into a condition where there was suffering, maybe even poverty where work and/or rigid religious ideas were deemed more important than the spontaneous enjoyment of childhood. The child with this moon often has to grow up before his/her time and misses the enjoyment of childhood. There are also situations where the grandparents live near by or have raised the child with this moon. This native has had to shoulder responsibilities over and over again, and will enjoy life only after mid life when there is a need to be free of having to raise another family. Living out one's childhood and spontaneity comes much later in life and the karma involved here often has to do with the mothering or abandonment in other lifetimes.

Moon in Aquarius --- This is a sign where the nurturing and mothering of the native has been one of strong detachment and impatience. The child learns to take care of self by rationalizing and analyzing every bit of communication coming from the primary caretaker. The feeling nature of this individual is often karmic and is left abandoned in the emotional sense of the word, not in the physical. The parents of this child are more like friends and not like parental symbols. Emotional commitments will be hard to come by in this life and one must look to relating to self in a way that finds nurturing and emotional fulfillment. There might be a habit of difficulty or rebellious behavior in the native as well as a sort of autistic standpoint of isolation. It is important for this individual to learn about emotions and feelings throughout the lifetime and not be dependent on mechanical or technological means in order to do so.

Moon in Pisces --- Life in early years is painful, and the sensitivities of this native are immense and he/she feels the suffering of humanity, even in the physicality of self. At any age, the emotions are highly tuned and sensitive, often psychic to the most subtle changes in family or environment. There may be a weakness or suffering in the mother and therefore the nurturing has to come from a 'sense of self' and one's own nurturing ability. There is a karmic escapism in this sign as the sensitivities become more honed and one can see that there is, indeed, suffering and stagnation all around. This native can find solace in books, movies and spiritual inclinations. There have been lifetimes of monastic and clerical involvement that have isolated this native before, so the tendency to isolate and become self-contained is what the native might seek.
